The Prime Minister seemed drunk yesterday by the color of the map of Albania after the publication of the results for mayors. He said that he reads the vote as a support but also a responsibility, while he was surprised by the massive vote he is enjoying after 10 years in power. Politics as a social science can have many interpretations of how the election result is seen or argued. This time I have chosen to read the election message from the numbers. The number of voters on the lists is 3,650,550.
On May 14, (without 2 VCs in Shijak that were not updated) there Turkey Phone Number List are 1,399,826 who went to vote. This number is less than half, 38.34% of voters. If we look at it in relation to INSTAT statistics for those living in Albania, there are 2,244,307 voters over 18 years old in 2022. So, it actually turns out that 62% of the country's residents voted. There are 257,724 voters less than in 2021, and just as less than in 2017 and 2015. If we read the result differently, we will see that the Socialist Party received 17,835 votes less than in 2021 and 206,745 in 2015. So the support has gone down. Then what happened that SP won? A good part of those who voted for the socialists in these years, did not go out to vote at all. There are 844,481 people who live in Albania and have not voted. The number of those who did not vote for SP candidates is higher than the number of citizens who voted for them.
